When basil meets the sea

On Saturday, 23 May, Pesto Fiore will take part in the Italian Oyster Fest in La Spezia, the Italian festival dedicated to oysters, with a cooking show designed to celebrate the encounter between two local excellences: the intense fragrance of Ligurian basil and the refined flavour of oysters.
The event will take place at the Pala Oyster, in Passeggiata Morin, from 1:45 pm to 2:30 pm, with “Perla Verde”, a recipe by Pesto Fiore created in collaboration with CNA La Spezia.
For Pesto Fiore, taking part in the Oyster Fest means bringing a clear vision to the stage: Ligurian tradition is not something static, but a solid foundation from which new pairings, new stories and new taste experiences can be created.
Basil, a symbol of Ligurian cuisine and the key ingredient of Genoese pesto, becomes the meeting point with one of the most refined products of the sea: the oyster. Two worlds that may seem distant, but are united by the same territorial identity, freshness and ability to express the authentic character of Liguria.
“Perla Verde”: a recipe between land and sea
The name of the recipe, “Perla Verde”, already tells the story behind the cooking show: enhancing the oyster with a fresh, green and aromatic note, able to accompany its natural savouriness without overpowering its balance.
It will be an opportunity to discover how pesto and basil can move beyond the most traditional boundaries of Ligurian cuisine and become protagonists in contemporary, elegant and surprising combinations.
